This project proposes the introduction of essential new functional spaces and a complete reconfiguration of an unmodernised family house, transforming it into a home better suited to contemporary living.

At ground floor level, a new extension has been added, conceived as a simple and robust volume that contrasts yet complements the original house. The design is driven by the expressive qualities of brick—specifically the use of a Woodland mixture of red to dark blue wire-cut, drag-faced multi bricks. These are arranged in stacked and slightly offset geometries, giving the new volume a tactile surface and refined material character.

A deep grey recessed mortar enhances the texture of the brickwork, allowing shadows and depth to animate the façade throughout the day. The overall tone and material palette of the extension were carefully selected to work in harmony with the existing building, creating a clear distinction between old and new while maintaining a cohesive architectural language.

Internally, the spatial layout has been reorganised to establish stronger connections between living spaces, increase natural light, and improve circulation. The result is a more generous, efficient and unified environment—functional and calm, with an emphasis on material integrity and clarity of space.

Este proyecto plantea la incorporación de nuevas áreas funcionales esenciales y la reconfiguración completa de una vivienda familiar no modernizada, transformándola en un hogar más acorde con las formas de habitar contemporáneas.

En el primer nivel, se construye una nueva ampliación concebida como un volumen simple y robusto, que contrasta y complementa al mismo tiempo la casa original. El diseño se articula a través de la expresividad del ladrillo, utilizando una mezcla tipo Woodland que va desde tonos rojos hasta azules oscuros, en ladrillos wire-cut con terminación drag-faced. Estos se disponen en geometrías apiladas y desplazadas, otorgando a la fachada una textura rica y cuidadosamente trabajada.

Una mezcla gris de mortero hundido acentúa aún más la textura del ladrillo, generando profundidad y sombras que varían con la luz natural a lo largo del día. La selección tonal y material del nuevo volumen fue cuidadosamente pensada para dialogar con la casa existente, estableciendo un contraste claro entre lo nuevo y lo original, pero manteniendo un lenguaje arquitectónico coherente.

Al interior, la organización espacial se reorganiza para reforzar las conexiones entre los espacios de estar, mejorar la entrada de luz natural y optimizar la circulación. El resultado es un ambiente más generoso, funcional y unificado—un hogar sereno, donde prevalecen la honestidad material y la claridad espacial.
